Cost: $20.00 – $30.00 per course and includes dinner
Urban University seeks to develop junior high and high school students in Erie County toward servant leadership through a variety of experiences that include career exploration, academic enrichment, commerce, service learning, mentorship, and faith formation

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM DETAILS:
• Drop off time: 3:45 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
• Pick up time: 7:00 p.m.
• Scholarship and transportation needs are considered upon request.
• Each course accepts between 6-10 students and includes a nutritious meal.
• Please note that our program meets regardless of days off from school. It will be expected that you consider
vacation, family events, appointments, etc. against our schedule so that you may ensure your student’s
attendance for every session, unless they are sick

Sewing & Denim Design:
Tuesdays and Thursdays/4 sessions total (January 9, 11, 16, 18)
Beginner and advanced students will have the opportunity to learn and enhance their sewing machine skills as they design and create
a body length blanket from repurposed denim material.

Cost: $15.00 (OR $25.00 for both Sewing and Mural Art)
Mural Art in collaboration with Glass Growers Gallery:
Tuesdays and Thursdays/4 sessions total (January 23, 25, 30, February 1)
Learn the techniques, inspirations, and creativity behind designing a mural in partnership with Glass Growers Gallery and local
muralists: Thomas Ferraro, Ceasar Westbrook, and Jamie Keim.
Student Showcase: Friday, February 2
Course Lead: Emily Ernes and Tracey Berger
Location: Glass Growers Gallery (10 East 5th Street)
Cost: $20.00 (OR $25.00 for both Mural Art and Sewing)
Leadership In Action:
Tuesdays and Thursdays/8 sessions total (February 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, 29)
Discover how practical leadership is learned and applied through the movie Remember the Titans and hear G.R.I.T. stories from local
and national leaders as students consider and develop their own story, along with service event and Escape Room experiences.
Note: Special evening service event on February 13

International Cooking:
Tuesdays and Thursdays/6 sessions total (March 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21)
Discover the art and tastes of various ethnic dishes as students engage in cooking meals, learning about other cultures and traditions,
and eating together.

Location: Erie City Mission Hagen Hall Kitchen (1017 French Street)

Marketing and Graphic Design:
Tuesdays and Thursdays/8 sessions total (April 2, 4, 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, 25)
This “youth commerce” effort combines learning marketing theories, Vectornator graphic design program, and business as students
create positive leadership designs to be sold through our annual online merch store.

Pickleball:
Mondays and Wednesdays/7 sessions total (April 10, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, May 1)
Learn or improve your skills in this popular and rising sport, as we drill through games and competitions.
