Urban University seeks to develop junior high and high school students in Erie County toward servant leadership through a variety of experiences that include career exploration, academic enrichment, commerce, service learning, mentorship, and faith formation

ASL: Mondays / Wednesdays September 11 – October 4

American Sign Language in collaboration with the Center for Hearing & Deaf Services, Inc.

Whether you are a beginner or have some experience with sign language, this course will allow you to learn and improve sign vocabulary, grammatical structure, finger spelling, and expressions as well as the culture behind the Deaf community.

NINJA WARRIOR LEADERSHIP: Tuesdays / Thursdays September 12 – October 5

(Student Showcase: Thursday, October 5)

Test and improve your physical and mental focus, strength, resilience, and agility as you learn how to jump, swing, and climb through various obstacles while also developing teamwork and leadership skills.

JR. BIOLOGY: Tuesdays September 12 – November 7 * No Class Oct. 10

Explore the molecular and cellular processes of biology in the college science laboratory at Gannon University through hands-on experiments that bring the learning of science to life.

Gannon professor, Dr. Quyen Aoh and her students will facilitate and mentor through this unique and engaging STEM experience.

BAKING 101: Mondays / Wednesdays October 9 – November 6 * No Class Oct. 25

(Student Showcase: Monday, November 6)

Learn the science, techniques, and art of baking and how to make a variety of desserts, cookies, and breads from scratch in the Erie City Mission’s professional kitchen.

Course Location: Erie City Mission Hagen Hall Kitchen (1017 French Street)

THE ART OF THE ARTIST: Tuesdays / Thursdays October 10 – November 7

Discover the stories behind the great art masters in history while exploring and recreating some of their most famous styles of art. * No Class Oct. 26
